Courtesy Call Between Hon. Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs and H.E. the Ambassador of Viet Nam

H.E. Ms. Trinh Thi Tam, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs on 02 October 2025.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, during which both parties exchanged views on the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam, as well as avenues for further strengthening and sustaining bilateral relations in the years ahead. H.E. the Ambassador commended Sri Lanka for the progress achieved in recent times across a range of sectors.

Discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of public security. In this context, particular attention was given to the possibility of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Police Academy of Sri Lanka and the Viet Nam People’s Police Academy. The proposed cooperation would primarily focus on police training and scientific research, with a view to strengthening institutional capacity and professional exchange between the two countries.
