Vehicles occupy a primary position among the physical resources required by the Police to protect law and order in Sri Lanka. Among them, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the Indian High Commission on 15 January, 2025, to provide an amount of Rs. 300 million as a grant to Sri Lanka as a financial provision for the purchase of single cabs for the police stations in the Northern Province. On behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. D W R B Seneviratne and on behalf of the Government of India Mr. Santosh Jha, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, signed this MoU.
