“Ratama Ekata” Inauguration Ceremony: A National Approach to Eradicate Illicit Drugs and Drug Trafficking

The inauguration ceremony of “Ratama Ekata”, a national initiative aimed at eradicating illicit drugs and drug trafficking, was held on 30 October 2025 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium under the patronage of H.E. the President and the Hon. Prime Minister.

The programme, led by the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, brought together all Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Ministry Secretaries, as well as District and Divisional Secretaries, underscoring a unified national commitment to addressing one of the most serious threats to the country’s most valuable asset, its children and youth.

The initiative focuses on addressing the root causes that place the younger generation in high risk situations, with particular emphasis on eliminating drug abuse and combating organized drug trafficking. Through a coordinated and comprehensive national strategy, “Ratama Ekata” seeks to strengthen prevention, enforcement, and community engagement to ensure a safer and drug free future for the nation.
